PMP® Blended Learning Package

Suitable for
Those wishing to demonstrate a proficient level of project management leadership skills.

Delegates considering the 5 day classroom option must have a significant amount of project related experience and knowledge and should already be working in a project focused environment.

To be eligible to sit the PMP® exam delegates must meet specific education and experience requirements and agree to adhere to a code of professional conduct.

Applicants must have 35 hours of specific project management education. With a bachelor’s degree (or the global equivalent), applicants must have a minimum of 3 years’ project management experience, with 4,500 hours having been spent leading and directing project tasks, up to 8 years before the time of application.

Without a bachelor’s degree (or the global equivalent), applicants must have a minimum of 5 years’ professional project management experience, with at least 7,500 hours having been spent leading and directing project tasks, up to 8 years before the time of application.

The PMP® qualification does not have a syllabus in the conventional sense. It is aimed at delegates who have extensive experience of project management in accordance with the PMBOK® . The exam is based upon a multiple choice questions that are a mixture of scenario and knowledge based questions. The scope of the PMP® draws upon the experience as well as knowledge. Therefore only experienced project managers should attend this event.

Summary
The Project Management Professional (PMP®) qualification is awarded by the US Project Management Institute (PMI®). This credential focuses on project leadership skills and demonstrates a solid foundation of experience in effectively managing projects.

This course covers the 9 knowledge areas, 5 process groups, professional responsibility and the PM Framework of the PMI’s Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) and additional PMP® exam areas:

Objectives
At the end of this course, delegates will be able to:
  • Define project management terms
  • Describe the PMBoK® process model
  • Explain the principles of project management
  • Describe project management methods, tools and techniques
  • Explain important people skills appropriate to effective project management
  • Be ready to sit the PMP® exam or have a good understanding of how much further post course study is required before they are exam ready.

Exam Structure
Once previous education and experience have been validated, the final stage is to sit a 4 hour, 200 question multiple choice exam, based on the PMBOK® Guide.

The exam tests a delegate’s ability to apply knowledge, experience, skills and techniques used in project management. It is developed by groups of individuals from around the globe who hold the PMP® credential and is routinely reviewed and revised to ensure the best and consistently objective assessment.

This is a computer based exam for delegates outside North America. Delegates are responsible for booking the exam through PMI’s web site www.pmi.org

The exams take place at a variety of designated test centres throughout the world.

Delegates wishing to sit the PMP® exam must ensure they meet the PMI’s eligibility requirements prior to attending the course.

The time taken to complete this course will depend on the chosen method of study, but on average the study time required is approximately 80 hours.

The qualification can be studied via TPG Academy's Core Courses in the classroom or through distance learning - online, CD or paper. The courses are supplemented by PMP® specific coursework and PMP® revision workbooks.

This qualification is completed by attending the PMP® exam preparation course.

PMP® exam preparation 2 day
Before attending the preparation course, delegates will be provided with comprehensive PMP® pre-course study material, which should be completed prior to attending. Delegates must also ensure they are familiar with the PMBOK® Guide.

This workshop event is based around a series of practical exercises that reflect the requirements of the PMP Examination Specification which provides the basis for the PMP examination and serves as a guide to students as they focus their preparation studies. It allows delegates to practise exam technique by looking at typical questions. In addition, they will have the opportunity to discuss any areas that they find difficult to understand.

Upon completion of the course delegates will receive a workbook containing information regarding exam arrangements, exam taking hints and tips, and a final set of multiple choice questions and answers.
