Management of Risk (M_o_R®) Foundation
3 day course: non-residential
Suitable for
Managers, team leaders and support staff involved in risk management at any organizational level. In particular, these qualifications complement other OGC best practice guidance such as PRINCE2® and MSP™. They are also suited to those who may be involved in the implementation of Management of Risk M_o_R framework.
Summary
M_o_R qualifications at Foundation and Practitioner levels are primarily based upon the OGC publication: Management of Risk - Guidance for Practitioners. Principles, processes and techniques used in the M_o_R approach are all covered and will enable delegates to apply the guidance within their own organization.
M_o_R provides an effective framework for taking informed decisions on risk opportunities and threats at all levels in an organization, including strategic, programme, project and operational. It enables organizations to meet the risk elements of the UK Financial Reporting Council’s Combined Code on Corporate Governance, and it defines the essential building blocks to establish, develop and embed risk management as a corporate process.
Content
This course will cover the 4 core concepts: M_o_R Principles, Approach, Processes and Embedding & Review. It incorporates all the activities required to identify and control the exposure to risk which may have an impact, positive or negative on the achievement of an organization’s business objectives.
Objectives
At the end of this course delegates will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the M_o_R context including links to corporate governance, business continuity and different organizational levels
- Explain the M_o_R approach including policy, process, strategies and associated documentation
- Demonstrate the application of an appropriate M_o_R framework at strategic, programme, project and operational perspectives
- Demonstrate an understanding of the purpose of a range of techniques commonly used in managing risk, and how they are applied in the process
- Describe the M_o_R process and barriers to its implementation
- Explain the benefits and success factors associated with establishing and embedding risk management into the culture of the organization
Exam Structure
This qualification comprises 2 levels, to be taken separately or together:
- M_o_R Foundation 45 minute multiple choice paper
- M_o_R Practitioner 3 hour scenario based exam
Delegates must pass the Foundation Exam before sitting the Practitioner Exam.

- M_o_R Foundation exam.
These courses include pre-course work, evening study and question practice.
Exams are taken during this course.
